After graduating from Harvard College in 1998, she enrolled at Harvard College and earned her Bachelor of Arts. Welker got married to John Hughes in Philadelphia, who was known as a marketing director. They have two daughters. They started an affair in 2014. John husband of hers has four years less than her.
