Lee Roy Selmon's existence is a combination of football scholarship, family work as well as community involvement. In the first place Selmon was brought up by Lucious as well as Jessie Selmon. They lived on the farm close to Eufala located in Oklahoma as the youngest of their nine children. Second football he was one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma. The three brothers were All-Americans. One year 1973 Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards and Lombardi Awards. He was one of the top linemen in across the country. In his time as the starting quarterback for Oklahoma, the Sooners went 32-1-1 and captured two national titles. A third scholarship saw him named as a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon earned his master's degree in educational studies. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer time per week throughout his time in college. Following graduation Lee Roy moved to Tampa which is where he played for nine years playing for the Buccaneers. Three times he was selected All-Pro. Lee Roy began his professional career. By 1988 he had become an Account Relation Officer at Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked on the following groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized Lee Roy as one of the Ten of America's top young men. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 pounds when he played college football. In 1975, he was on the team. squad. He joined at the University of South Florida as an associate director of athletics. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1993 by The GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame of 1994 as well as by The Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave its Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma presented it.
