Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been an Greek American columnist, author and businesswoman for over 20 years. She co-founded The Huffington Post, is the CEO and founder of Thrive Global as well an author of fifteen novels. Arianna Huffington is an author TV personality, philanthropist, and TV host as well as the founder and publisher of The Huffington Post. Her birthplace was in Greece and relocated to England at the age of 16. In Cambridge University, she graduated with an MA in economics. In her 21st year, she was president of the famed debate club The Cambridge Union' and was the first foreign born student to do so. Following graduation, she left her name as a conservative syndicated columnist and, with the launching of The Huffington Post' few years later, she launched an online voice platform that offered critical observations about the current political climate. Her celebrity status helped her to get a number of prominent contributors to publish their thoughts on news, politics, and other topics. Arianna rose to fame in 2003 when she decided to contest independently for the California recall vote to succeed the Governor Davis. Also, she was the head of a Detroit automobile project that was fuel efficient. She was named one of the Most Popular Women in Media by Forbes in 2009, and was awarded the 12th spot on the list. The same year, the Guardian included her in the 100 most influential media on their list. AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post, and she was made president of the media company. This included many AOL products at that time, including Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. Elli was the daughter of Konstantinos, a Journalism and management expert. Though she was close with her father, it was her relationship with her mother that shaped her life. In her early years, she displayed the qualities of a leader for which she's still known. Her move to England came at 16, to pursue her education and was accepted into Girton College Cambridge. In the time of her studies, she belonged to the Cambridge Union debating group where she was elected the first woman and the only foreign president. She graduated in 1972 with the degree of Master in Economics. She became a writer, a critic as well as a host on TV and a columnist after her graduation. Additionally, she starred together with Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started writing books using his editorial assistance.
